Los Alamos Rotary Club Once Again Feeds Their Community

Helping Their Community is Second Nature to the Los Alamos Rotary Club

Often, those suffering from food insecurity are right under our nose: community members hiding in the shadows, unsure of where their next meal will come from. For the Los Alamos Rotary Club, the battle against food insecurity has long been a cause the charitable group has taken on for years. In one of the most impactful efforts to date, the Los Alamos Rotary Club helped pack an incredible 35,328 meals that will be delivered to the most vulnerable people in their community.

To get it done, the Los Alamos Rotary Club had an incredible amount of help and community support. For starters, more than 100 community members of all ages, both members and nonmembers, dedicated their Saturday to helping those suffering from food insecurity. Indeed, by mid-afternoon, more than 35,320 meals were assembled and packed, ready to be transported the next day to the Food Depot in Santa Fe. Ultimately, the food will be delivered to food pantries and those in need in northern New Mexico.

Let’s not forget the partner that helped put it all together, Meals of Hope. Founded in 2007, Meals of Hope has helped fight the hunger crisis in the U.S. by organizing meal packing events across the U.S. Indeed, Meals of Hope events are a fun, high-energy volunteer effort to help those in need. In just a few hours, tens of thousands of meals can be packed. Meals of Hope franchise owners make connections with local organizations, such as charities or businesses, which then secure a venue and volunteers for an event. Meals of Hope takes it from there, supplying the ingredients and making sure it ends up at a local food bank for distribution. This model has helped more than 80 million meals reach those in need over the past 15 years.

Get in Touch with Your Community

Owning a Meals of Hope franchise not only helps you realize your dreams of small business ownership, but it also lets you serve your community at the same time. Meals of Hope franchise owners excel at building relationships within their community to help get more meal-packing events off the ground and running. Whether at places of worship, charities, businesses or universities, Meals of Hope franchise owners truly have the heart of a servant and love helping people.

“This is a business that’s all about building relationships,” Meals of Hope founder Steve Popper says. “Our franchise owners are going to be spending their time networking in their communities and forming relationships that are based on a shared commitment to give back. We’ve discovered that there’s no shortage of organizations, charities, businesses, houses of worship, and colleges and universities who want to host an event. When they hear the impact that one event can have, it becomes a common sense decision to host it. The more events our franchise owners can organize, the more successful they become in business – and more importantly, the more people they’re able to help.”
